So, the transition time, between the winter's end and spring is<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0a challenging period in terms of irrigation &#8211;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The amount of sunlight radiation changes according to cloud coverage.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unknown quantities of rain.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dry spells.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dry winds.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inconsistent temperatures.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All these factors cause irregular water consumption, making it difficult to determine when to irrigate and the appropriate daily water compensation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Questions arise \u2013 what is the correct amount of water for irrigation? At what intervals? Considerations of the soil structure (sandy\/clay soil), Plot topography should be taken.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this uncertainty, we need more information about evaporation, plant condition, and soil moisture content to answer the above questions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using tensiometers can constitute an excellent source of information for decision making regarding irrigation programs, particularly in transitional seasons, and provides the following advantages:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More accurate assessment of timing and water compensation according to plant behavior, despite the irregularity of daily evaporation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Early cessation of rainfall in March or April when ground temperatures are still low and trees consume water requires water compensation. For example, this last January was warmer and dryer than usual, forcing farmers to irrigate to relieve water shortage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Alternatively, in a late rainy season where &quot;technical&quot; irrigation may be required to fertilize plants, it is important to begin irrigation early, to prevent root activity at the saline edges, even though the soil is wet from Winter rains. Thus preventing drainage of salts to the root zone \u2013 in saline soils or saline irrigation water. This may cause damage to plants, such as loss of leaves, flowers, and fruit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using Gat Fertilizers \u2013 <\/span><b>GaTense<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> monitoring system for irrigation management which includes tensiometers, it is possible to receive soil water content data, enabling irrigation and fertilization at the proper time and in correct quantities, so that plants will receive just the necessary amount of water and nutrition required.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is important to install the tensiometers correctly in the field, for continuous and accurate data on water availability for plants in the root zone, to make the right decisions for irrigation management.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are the considerations in the correct placement of tensiometers in the orchard \u2013<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Locate a model tree in the plot.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Place at the main plant variety or the most sensitive to water deprivation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In sloped tracts, place at one-third of the slope.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a planted ridge plot, same as above.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In plots with varied types of soil, place in the primary soil type.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Insertion in the intermediate area of wetting cross-section.
